The introduction of Cooperative Connected Automated Mobility (CCAM) ensures a significant increase of safety, efficiency and effectiveness in road traffic. However, a safe and efficient CCAM implementation induces new challenges for road operators and automakers. A digital twin can be part of the solution to support road operators in this transition.

Yesterday, we officially kicked-off our project DIGEST, which develops concepts and specifications of a digital twin of roads for a European implementation that is framed and specified within a prototypic implementation in the Austrian, German and Swiss region for BASt, ASFINAG and ASTRA.

Looking forward to work again with a great team with HITEC, ARNDT IDC, DLR, Logistikum and ANDATA to build on top of the experiences and findings of WienZWA, Connecting Austria, COPE and our modeling/simulation background in ADAS development and traffic automation.
